Republicans Propose “Rape by the Government” Legislation

Please, somebody, remind me what do you call the action of penetrating a person against their will?

And on a 63-36 vote, the House passed a bill that requires women to have a “transvaginal ultrasound” before undergoing abortions. . .

The ultrasound legislation would constitute an unprecedented government mandate to insert vaginal ultrasonic probes into women as part of a state-ordered effort to dissuade them from terminating pregnancies, legislative opponents noted.

“We’re talking about inside a woman’s body,” Del. Charnielle Herring, a Democrat, said in an emotional floor speech. “This is the first time, if we pass this bill, that we will be dictating a medical procedure to a physician.”

Once again, penetrating people against their will in return to giving them access to a medical procedure. What is the correct terminology for that?

Think of the most recent medical procedure you have had. How would it make you feel if the doctor had told you, “I’m sorry, the government doesn’t allow me to tend to your medical needs until I insert this device into your vagina / anus. There is absolutely no medical need for this violation but our legislators think it will be cool to stick things into you in response to you daring to request this completely legal medical procedure.”

And the most hilarious thing that this legislation is being introduced by the very people who yell and scream about how intrusive the government has become. Somebody wake me up because this has got to be an especially bad nightmare.

Del. Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) :We hear the same song over there. The very tragic human notes that are often touched upon involve extreme examples. But in the vast majority of these cases, these are matters of lifestyle convenience.

You see the only thing that can stop abortions is empowering the government to make them inconvenient. Having your uterus vacuumed and scraped is just so darned commodious who would think twice about it? Being probed like an alien abductee before hand ought to give these wanton jezebels a little more pause.

That’s a poor definition of rape. It would include stabbing and not include rape by envelopment.

Still, this bill would would require vaginal penetration, so it probably counts as rape.

I was about to write “at least I don’t live in VA” but then I realised that TN voted today that “there will be no mentioning of homosexuality in school education”…..

It’s not intelligent but as is the case with all extreme patriarchal stances, it seems to speak to some people’s fears and underlying needs. There are those who are brought up in such a way that they have a traumatised character structure. Indeed, the construction of masculinity normatively takes place by means of traumatisation. Think in terms of compulsory military service and so on. I guess these folk internalise a certain degree of self-hatred and self-contempt, which inhibits them in developing normal relationships with women.

Consequently, they believe that women have to be forced into relationships with them. What weapon do they use to try to achieve this? Traumatisation!

Rapists-by-proxy. They’ll make someone else actually do it. And the odds are that this someone will be a doctor or tech who actually gives a crap about women and their rights over their own bodies – now punished for that by having to take part in a succession of rapes.

There’s also an article on Slate, which says that new mothers in France are subject to ‘vagina re-education’, in which the therapist INSERTS HER FINGERS while you squeeze, which I thought sounded a lot like state sponsored digital rape. and this in the same week. I truly, truly don’t understand: if you don’t like abortion, don’t have one. END OF STORY. But apparently not.

The chairman of the Alabama Senate Health Committee said he doesn’t see a conflict of interest between his support for a bill that would require physicians to perform ultrasounds on women seeking abortions and his company, which sells the type of equipment the bill would require.

Sen. Greg Reed, R-Jasper, voted to move Senate Bill 12 out of committee last week because he said it’s a good bill that would help “a mother to understand that a live baby is inside her body.”

But there’s no chance Preferred Medical Systems, where Reed is vice president, would benefit, he said. It is the company’s policy not to do business with abortion providers, Reed said.

“I do not sell ultrasound equipment in my business to clinics that are abortion clinics,” he said recently. According to campaign information, Preferred Medical Systems sells diagnostic medical equipment in five states.

The bill from Clay Scofield, R-Guntersville, passed out of committee with a vote of 4-to-1 last week. Senator Coleman was the only vote against it.

A call to Preferred Medical Systems could not confirm if the organization sells to abortion providers or not. The receptionist said she had “no idea” if the company has a policy barring the sale of its equipment to clinics that provide abortions. However she said she would try to locate the right person to speak with for clarification on what Senator Reed says is company policy.

  Notice how few of the “freedom lovers” are protesting. This also infringes on the freedom of doctors to practice medicine the way they want. But suddenly all those folks who worried that the healthcare reform would victimize doctors don’t care any longer. Hmmmm. . .
