Should Men Let Women Wear the Shoes They Like?

Even the supposedly progressive sources can’t avoid using hugely offensive language when discussing women. The “What About Teh Menz” blog started out kind of fine, but it has adopted the language of disrespect for women that makes me cringe. Here, for example, the kind of dating advice that its author dispenses to short men:

Let your girlfriend wear high heels if she wants to.

In this blogger’s confused sad excuse for a brain, adult women need their boyfriend’s permission to wear the shoes they like.

I’m sure that many of that blog’s followers are wondering why their personal lives are miserable. The answer is, of course, that as long as they see this kind of rhetoric as acceptable, their loneliness will only intensify. Nobody needs a man who thinks he will be “letting” his girlfriend do things. Even the most downtrodden, mousy females have realized by this time that they don’t need their boyfriends’ permission to dress the way they want to. There can be any number of boyfriends in a woman’s life. But none of them can matter more than her dignity.

Unfortunately, Google Reader doesn’t allow me to bump blogs off my reading list, so I’m doomed to reading the idiocies of this stupid blog in my blogroll.

        Or you can replace his shitty tips by “Became rich”, which is more efficient! 😉

          – Not really. Rich men have as much trouble finding girlfriends as not-rich men. They have to go buy women in 3rd world countries as a result.

  3. You can take blogs off your Google Blogger list: click on the blog you want to delete. Blog name gets a grey background and a small black triangle appears on the right of this grey field. Click on the triangle and you’ll get a drop down menu. Select unsubsribe. Done, the blog is gone.

  4. While the wording might be unfortunate, that’s not really what the blogger means (imo). [Also, the commentator above has clearly not read the piece… :o]
    From how I understand the post you link to, the author means that short dudes should be okay with a girlfriend being taller because otherwise the girlfriend will leave them (good for her!). The author tries to explain that often short men might not like being with a girl who is taller when wearing heals because of how they think they might be perceived. The author explains that that (might) be right. While the post contains some unfortunate wording, the authors intentions aren’t bad. IMO it would be better to criticise the careless wording, not the underlying post (which is too short for what it wants to convey imo).

    1. I don’t care about anybody’s intentions. I’m not a mind-reader. What I do know is that the use of the word “let” in this context betrays a deep-seated contempt towards women and the belief that men own women.

  6. Men in general want compliance. Some have to settle for blow up dolls. But they cant cook or do housework. Improvements in robotics may make it possible some day for men who cant deal with real women to find the perfect manufactured girl of their dreams.
