American Tourists

I have to say, people, that at this resort, the American tourists are the best people to have around. The Spaniards are very loud. The Quebecois are extremely rude. The Russians are untidy and throw garbage around. The Dutch find the concept of clothing unappealing. The French never leave tips and are unpleasant to the employees. The Germans love their liquor and become rowdy at night.

The Americans, however, are the quietest, politest bunch of folks who seem obsessed with reading. I even thought there were no Americans here at first. I didn’t hear any English spoken, so I assumed this meant there were no American tourists. Now I have realized, however, that they are all over the place but they either speak quietly or are glued to their Kindles and iPads.

In short, the Germans are addicted to liquor, and Americans – to Internet.
Judging by the quantity of updates, you too have gotten this bug. 🙂

Any word on how Anglophone Canadians are behaving themselves? 🙂
I used to do a lot of work in tourist resorts as a child and teen, and my favourite tourists were always Japanese tourists. They’re polite, tip well (even though tipping isn’t a custom in Japanese culture), and always express gratitude over your work. The worst ones were Italians, French, and Israelis, who brought the definition of “rude” to a new level.

    Anglophone Canadians are behaving like people from the United States of America because there are no big differences between them. But I am only writing this because I am rude:)

I am such a terrible tourist. For example, I’m in St. Petersburg at the moment, and at a restaurant I left my meal half eaten when the waiter came to take it. I should make this clear – I wasted food in ST. PETERSBURG, THE CITY THAT USED TO BE LENINGRAD. I’m now paranoid the waiter judged me as some spoiled first-world prick.

  Yeah, I have to say that people in that city have very intense reactions to wasted food. I had the same experience when I traveled there.

When we were in Spain (Americans), the most annoying tourists there were the British folks who treat the Spanish shore as their own personal Florida. Also, I noticed that the big groups of people who would get off of cruise ships all look the same – fat and badly dressed – no matter what country they are from.

  Oh yes, the British tourists are a scourge of the Spanish resorts. The Spaniards go deathly pale whenever those tourists are mentioned.
