When a blogger starts posting things like, “I’m sorry I haven’t posted for a while, will be back soon!”, this is evidence that the blog is in its death throes. Yesterday, I traveled through a set of stranger blogs many of which were long abandoned. In the absolute majority of those abandoned blogs, the last 2 or 3 posts explained a long absence and promised a swift return to regular posting.
It is very sad to see blogs die and float around the Internet like sad ghosts of once vibrant and fun places.
If the bus I’m on right now had more room and weren’t shaking so much, I would pull out my laptop right now and finish that late post I was referring to in my last update just to prove you wrong. I don’t want to slip like that, and it’s way too easy to let it happen.

Yes! We cannot abandon blogging! There are too many crappy blogs out there to allow the few good ones flounder.

On a tangentially related note:
Is it considered bad netiquette to comment on a very old post?
Is it considered bad netiquette to comment on an apparently (or for that matter officially) dead blog?
As for me, I’ll take whatever comments I can get.

No, I think everybody loves seeing comments on old posts. I LOVE getting comments on old posts. I LOVE it. LOVE it. 🙂 Just in case people don’t believe me at first. 🙂
