I was talking on the phone to my sister and decided to tell her that recently I started painting my nails. I was going to tell her that it turned out to be very easy and not at all a drag as I used to think. As I opened my mouth to share this bit of information, my sister began to speak.
“I recently started painting my nails,” she said. “It turned out to be very easy and not at all a drag as I used to think.”
My sister and I have been living in different countries for over 8 years yet our connection is intense. In the first year of her daughter’s life, I almost never got any sleep because if my sister doesn’t sleep in Montreal, I don’t sleep in Illinois.
And we are not even twins.

That is an absolutely gorgeous shade of blue.
(I’ve been occasionally painting my own short, stubby nails since high school, more or less; it *is* pretty easy. I sometimes get polish on the skin around my nails, too, but luckily the kinds of polish I use will come off of skin, but not nail, with scrubbing.)
Black is my favorite nail color, but I also use green, yellow, blue, purple and red. Sometimes I make rainbows, with each nail a different color, from red on the thumb to yellow, green, blue and finally dark purple on the pinky finger.

Thank you! And it matches my new blue skirt perfectly.
Maybe I’ll dare to do a rainbow manicure one of these days. For halloween, maybe.

I absolutely love manicures! I have on some cheap red gloss right now which is chipping, so I’ll probably be taking it off soon, but when I get the good stuff, like Butter London, I can’t help but love painting my nails.
My favourite thing to try some day will be a “black-on-black” French manicure, like this: http://www.thetrendygirl.net/2011/02/french-manucure-rocks.html/french-manucure-noire-1
It’s impressive that you and your sister have such a strong connection! I’m beginning to warm up to my sister after years of being lukewarm to each other due to our differences in age and interests. With maturity comes better relationships, I guess.

I have a sister, but we don’t have much in common. She recently posted a picture of a kangaroo she had seen near her work. I asked, “Is that your son?” She does have a son and two daughters. I don’t relate to family circumstances. It’s all obscure to me.

Clarissa,
I think you should devote a post to Russian Sisters on how American and European Hotels work. I Just came across two young Russian ladies arguing at a hotel reception desk because their room don’t look like a suite with sofa and side table for a drink and so on. Listen, what do you expect for 1 star hotel paying $36 or 36 euros/night? I am under the impression that these 2 ladies belong to the new rich class and come here like they are entittled to everything, including harassing hotel workers!.
I must go eat something now, they’ve made me angry and hungry!

I know what you feel, Kelly. My people are incredibly rude and obnoxious. They don’t read my blog, though, so I can’t address them publicly and tell them they are putting us all to shame.
