My uncle from Halifax went out and hunted a moose. My Ukrainian aunt made borscht with it. Now she wants him to hunt a bear to make bear borscht. Have you ever heard of anything cooler than bear-meat borscht?

A moose or a mousse? I used to live in Halifax (I live in Vancouver now) but I do not recall that anyone ever engaged in the hunting of mousses anywhere in or near there! I love your blog … it always makes my day!

I have visions of your uncle in plaid jacket, holding a shotgun, sneaking up on a bowl of pudding. (Ukrainians may hunt mousse, but in Canada we hunt moose.)

I have about five pounds of moose meat in my freezer now from a friend, I’m going to turn it into moose meat sandwiches with bannock as the bread. Moose meat is fabulous, non-Canadians don’t know what they’re missing.
