One really mystifying question is why Britain is so welcoming to all of these bandits who escape from Russia in order to avoid responsibility for their crimes. There are now crowds of them polluting the shores of the Thames. Is the country so broke that it can’t do without the money these criminals pay for their British visas and citizenships?
Britain has always had the most bizarre immigration policies I’ve ever seen. Productive, law-abiding, English-speaking people like me are not needed while this corrupt human detritus is encouraged to continue its life of crime in the UK. I hope nobody is dense enough to believe that these folks begin to respect the law once they land in the UK.

I must be naive but I keep thinking that social cohesion, shared basic values, and civilization should matter more than whether some criminal will bring some money in (and immediately proceed to cheat on a much bigger scale.)

The British government has actively been trying to destroy traditional British values and anything like social cohesion for at least 15 years now*. The aim is to create lots of mini-ghettos who’ll spend time squabbling among themselves rather than take a criticial look at what the British government is doing (it’s called ‘the government electing a new people’).
Filth like Abramovich and the recent dead guy have lots of money, you don’t.
They also have no civic values, and you do.
They won’t publicly question or challenge the governmen, and you would.
They can afford payoffs and bribes (probably small potatoes compared to those in Russia), and you can’t.
Anymore questions?
*I first formed that hypothesis about 10 years ago and nothing successive British governments have done since has made me doubt it for a second.

– This actually explains a lot. I’ve been wondering for years what the really bizarre immigration policies of the UK actually aim to achieve. I though they were simply created by idiots for no particular reason. But this explanation makes a lot of sense. There has definitely been a ghettoization of London that I have seen neither in Berlin nor in Madrid.

These Russian criminals are not going to France, though. None of them speak any language or pay any taxes, so those are not the reasons. There must be something else attracting them.

Oh yes, they buy up the Cote d’Azur. Nice is full of them, and even has real estate agent signs in Russian. They have always love Nice. But they are not responsible for destroying French values. The government does that all by itself with by being lax about justice.
