The Marco Island movie theater is like no other I’ve ever seen. It has booths with tables and soft arm-chairs, and there is a large menu where you can order real food, salads, steaks, wine, desserts, etc, so nobody has to resign themselves to stinky popcorn.
Isn’t that type of movie theatre the best??? I actually am not much of a fan of going to the movies. It’s just not something I love to do. But there is a theatre like that near me and it totally changes the movie going experience. It seems so plush and adult. š

Holy cow, how did I not go to Marco Island when I lived in Florida? Oh yeah — I had no money to do anything of the kind. Oh well.

When I was a kid we went to Marco Island a few times, when there was essentially nothing there but scrub and beaches (I’m thinking we got there by boat). As nice as some of the amenities you’re describing are, it’s hard for me to think of them as improvements.

They are improvements on other places in Florida that I have visited for a vacation, I mean. Although I still would have preferred to go to the Dominican Republic.

While Florida can be an interesting (to say the least) place to live, there’s no way on earth I would ever want to visit there.

There is no other place to go for a beach vacation in the US. And I can’t leave the US right now. I don’t always end up in Florida because I have some sort of a Florida fetish. š I’m not that Canadian. š

There was a movie theatre like this where I live once in the 1970’s or early 1980’s. It did not survive long; apparently not everyone likes the combination, although I enjoyed it.

I don’t like Florida, not per see, but because there’s too much QuĆ©bĆ©cois idiots there.

There are crowds of people from Quebec around here, that’s true. Maybe that’s why the food is good because the Quebecois won’t pay for garbage.

This seems great! The best movie theater I had the chance to visit (and like four times a week during 8 months) is the Cine DorƩ in Madrid. It is an art-nouveau repertoire movie theater that serves wine, beer, and tapas. Less than 2 euros to watch a movie, and sometimes two. I miss it dearly.
This is where I dicovered the great silent comic movies from the USSR, among many many many other things.
When I was a kid I used to think that Florida was the pinacle of good taste and civilization. Can I be more quƩbƩcois?
Now I have to go to Miami for a wedding in July, and I start to think that a week on Marco Isalnd may not be a bad idea.
