OK, I understand that students can’t get over the temptation to address me with the high school “Miiiiieeeeeess!” but doesn’t it feel just a little counter-intuitive to use this appellation on a person with a humongously pregnant belly?

Considering the number of unwed pregnancies nowadays, maybe it’s not so counter-intuitive. However, it is disrespectful, to any teacher.

What do you prefer them to use? Mrs?
In business writing, I was taught to use Ms. always in business (which doesn’t distinguish between married or not) but I believe that the pronunciation of this is exactly the same as Miss…LikeLike

I would be totally fine with “Dr. Professor Clarissa, PhD”. 🙂 🙂 But it’s also OK to use my very easily pronounceable first name. This is what I asked them to do on the first day of class but there is always an enormous resistance to using my first name among students.

In American English there is a distinct difference in the pronunciation of “Ms.” (rhymes with “is”) and “Miss” (rhymes with “kiss”).

I prefer Dr. or Professor, but my first name is also OK, so long as it is not shortened to “Dave” as some want to do.
