Who wants to bet that the architect was high as a kite when he created this museum:

In this enormous room, the artifacts look tiny, pathetic, and scared. José Rafael Moneo, the architect of the museum, must have really hated Roman art. Or maybe I’m wrong, maybe he really loved it and knew that in order to attract people to the museum, the art had to be delivered in a really shocking, outrageous way. I mean, you come to this museum, see the huge room and the tiny artifacts, pee yourself with laughter, and this becomes one exhibit you never ever forget.
Well, but it’s got the Roman arches. That has to count for something, right?

If you see this same scene with people present you will see that these are not small pieces..they are quite large Art is subjective.

That’s exactly the point. The architect dwarfs the pieces by placing them in this enormous room. They are not small but they seem tiny because of what the architect did.

It reminds me of those upscale clothing boutiques that have a single rack with two blouses and a dress :-). That said, I confess I don’t see the problem here–it looks in the photo at least–like a graceful space.

The problem I always have with rooms like that is they always freak me out too much to just look at the statues.
