I Look Spanish

An Ecuatorian woman struck up a conversation with me while I was eating sushi in preparation for my driving lesson. She said she knew I was from Spain even before seeing that I was reading a book on the Spanish Civil War because my appearance and outfit are very Spanish.

I’m glad, of course, because, among white people, the only women more beautiful than the Spanish are the British women.

    1. Did you see the skin on the British people, though? They never grow old because they keep blooming forever.

Of course, there is also a strain of horsinesss in the UK that is, thankfully, limited to the upper classes.

      1. That is actually a misconception – there are actually lots of horsey British people who are lower / middle class, it’s just declasse to be obvious about it if you aren’t posh. 😀 Middle class horsey people tend not to go to the supermarket in their riding boots, for instance.
The skin thing is true in my anedotal experience – when I lived in New Zealand/Australia I was bemused to find my sense of the age people were was off – I consistently overestimated their age based on their crowsfeet and lines. I still, at 35, look younger than my NZ contemporaries, and I’m not even particularly genetically gifted that way. I think it’s a side benefit of the consistently damp and overcast climate!

      1. You sure have got me wrong! What I am saying is that comparing the beateousness of females of various nationalities is one of the most boring and old fashioned sexist pursuits.

        1. I’m not sure you understand the word “sexist.” Here is the definition: “Sexism or gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on a person’s sex or gender.” If I forbade people to mention men in this thread, that would be sexist. But I obviously didn’t.

          1. People: feel free to discuss men, too. I don’t because I’m married, and doing so would be vulgar but, unlike Hattie seems to suggest, I’m not opposed to anybody discussing male appearance.

  1. I think Italians as a nationality are very attractive – although I don’t always personally like their fashion/stylistic choices – I appreciate the attention to detail and effort both genders put in.

  2. I did not mention Americans because the stipulation, as I understood it, was among Europeans. I see now that it was “among white people.” This rules out many of the most beautiful women, like Beyoncé or my lovely wife. But among white people, I think Americans are near the top.

    1. I don’t think we can speak of a specific American type of appearance because everybody is from a different place. Quebecois people have a very obvious physical type and can be recognized anywhere, but other Americans?

IME there’s a small crust of British women with a lot of style and flair and many do have the peaches and cream complexsion (too often dulled by too much tobacco and gin). But on the whole British women have little idea about how to maximize their good features and minimize their…. weaker ones and overall (both men and women) the British tend to be the worse dressed people in Europe.

I think the best groomed and dressed are the Italians closely followed by the Spanish and French.

The highest concentration of really pretty women I’ve ever seen was probably in the Czech Republic with Spain or France probably leading among handsome men, just IME.

  4. mhhhh… I don’t believe spanish women to be any particularly beautiful and I also can’t really see how you look Spanish. I mean, I don’t know about your outfut! But, but… I don’t know. I’d say maybe you look French. Spanish people tend to believe french women are beautiful, as well! 😉
