Putin’s great advantage is that he understands that the nation- state is dead while the so-called Western leaders still haven’t managed to catch up and are speaking to him in a dead language of an obsolete state form.
A new world order will follow the creation of the new state-form, as it always does. And whoever learns to adapt to it first will own the world. It doesn’t seem that the US stands a chance of winning this contest for now because you can’t win if you are not even aware that the game is on.
Like in soccer, the team that fails to show up automatically loses.
Could you post about the new-state form more, please? You mentioned market-state theory once, but I haven’t really understood what it means. If world becomes more open, with free movement of workers and goods, where is state now?

Well said. And we could use a little more definition about the new state-form.

Yes, I will write about it at length, I promise. But now I’m preparing a party for 30 people and I need to make sure they don’t leave hungry and sober. 🙂

All I can tell from all this “nation state is dead” is that whatever is going to follow it is going to be far, far, far worse for people like me (in the short term).

“people like me” = Middle class profesionals and below? Not super-rich?
As for me, I am 100% sure that whatever is dead (or not) in Europe won’t hurt Israel’s ideology of a Jewish nation state till my generation’s deaths. You could be riding the first wave of progress in Europe, cliff, vs. my backwater area 🙂 On the other hand, I am living near “we haven’t developed to nation state’s level yet, lets have caliphate.” 😦

People who depend on the concept of civil society (and individual, as opposed to group based, rights).

Good news : group-based rights will be totally dead in the new state form. I totally need to write about this at length.

Shit, I forgot to mention inclass that ISIS’s Caliphate is the renaissance of the one we are discussing in class. Shit, shit, shit.

Yes, these kinds of tectonic shifts are never easy. But for people of your and mine generation it’s not gonna be that bad. It’s too late for us to experience the really bad parts of the new world order.
