So how many PhDs does it take to figure out where to find buttons in the US?

The answer: Many. This complex issue had everybody stumped until N gave a brilliant solution. He suggested that I go to Goodwill, buy a piece of clothing with big buttons for $2, and cut off the buttons.

And this is exactly what I did. Goodwill was full of wonderful,  big-buttoned pieces of clothing. I cannot believe this had me so stumped for so long.

N went to Purdue, by the way. If anybody needed any proof that this school graduates brilliant people,  here it is.

If you just needed a small quantity of identical buttons that’s the best way. I would have just gone to a sewing store myself.

If he had a sewing store close, I would. But I’ll just spend more on gas driving there.

I can’t believe you guys don’t have any fabric and craft stores. Joann’s and Michaels are two of the more common. I know Joann’s has buttons, for future reference.

I’ve been to Michaels : no buttons. They have everything but buttons.

Joanne’s! That’s where I eventually found buttons. I had no luck at Michael’s either. I wish I had thought about Goodwill!! But it truly was an Odyssey when I needed buttons.

Walmart should have a crafts section, with buttons, fabrics, and the like.

But what if I want jacket buttons that haven’t been invented yet?

I want some metal jacket buttons with the Tube logo on them — I have yet to see such a thing even on the Tube employees’ jackets …

Anyone reading with a CNC milling machine, some time, and a licence from Transport for London should make this happen. 🙂
