So how does everybody feel about the Putinoid freak show Syriza winning in Greece?
As Russians would say, Greeks have degenerated to the point of enjoying sexual intercourse with mice.

First thing he did when he arrived in his office was demanding that Germany pay its WW2 war reparations. Reparations that apparently were already settled in 1946 and 1964. Charming fellow, if you ask me.

What a freak, seriously. I have no idea why everyone is so enthusiastic about him. Nationalistic populism is scary.

I always have to remind myself that his party claims to be radically leftist. Weird if you consider that they form a government with ANEL. ANEL is described by Wikipedia as “conservative, national-conservative and right-wing populist political party”.

I think Greece is desperate to get out of the Euro. It never belonged there in the first place and there’s no possible recovery for them within the Eurozone.
The same way I think a major goal of the Catalan independence movement is to get out of the Euro (since Spain is a similar bad fit).
The big tent Euro roll out has been a complete disaster. It worked better than expected in good times and worse than expected in bad times.

Word of mouth has it that Syriza does not intend on leaving the EU/Euro anymore. They started out as radical RADICAL left, but had to broaden quite a bit to appeal more to the center.

Other word of mouth is that Germany finally feels it’s safe to dump Greece.
No matter what the parties say, we’ll see what happens.

Also, EU and Euro membership are (or should be) two separate issues. I can see Greece leaving the Euro and staying in the EU (and Schengen another separate issue).
But at present, the total Greek debt comes to somthing like 40,000 Euros for every citizen in the country and within the Euro there’s basically no way out of that… ever.
