Baltimore

Is anybody following the coverage of the events in Baltimore on the networks? Fox News is offering coverage that is very sympathetic to the rioters. In the meantime, MSNBC is doing nothing but allowing weirdos like some stupid representative of Rand Paul to self-promote.

I’m staying with Fox News for now because it offers more than the obsessive “OMG, a CVS has been looted” that the other networks are doing.

I love Baltimore and have very fond memories of the months I lived there back in 2009.

  1. I’m watching it on Fox and CNN, and as of right now (7 p.m. in Baltimore) the police aren’t doing much of anything except trying to form perimeters to contain the rioters. Clearly, sufficient police haven’t been brought into the city to actually enter the riot areas and maintain order/arrest those breaking the law.

I don’t know when it gets dark in Baltimore this time of year, but the situation will probably get much worse after sunset unless additional law enforcement power (the state National Guard?) is brought in.

The lack of police response against this type of violent criminal behavior is ridiculous. The Baltimore mayor has a lot to answer for.

    1. Didn’t the mayor say that the police had to stay back to let the rioters get it out of their systems for a while?

  2. I’m also switching between stations. Never been to Baltimore but it’s still disappointing to see the city in such state of disarray.

Why do people in these riots always rip apart their own neighborhoods? They have to keep living in them after the riot ends. It’s not like they have anotehr place to go.

      1. Oh that’s right, mature rage in riots means destroying other people’s property! Like the pumpkin fest riot, or the riots when some sports team wins or loses, or Joe Paterno was fired for hiding a child molestor, or the Tulsa Riots, or the Rosewood riots, or the Bellingham Riots, or the East St Louis riot last century, or the Atlanta riot or the Chinese Massacre of 1871…
They all had mature and valid reasons for rioting, unlike these people. .

        1. Montréal Canadiens fans destroyed half of downtown Montréal after the team got into playoffs back in 2008. The team was so embarrassed that it immediately started losing.

          That was absolutely pathetic.

The other neighborhoods have guns? Their own neighborhoods are Section 8?
