I’m finding it extremely cute how people find “blood coming out of her wherever” oh so offensive but don’t see anything at all problematic with “no abortion rights even if it causes a woman’s death.”
Fucking hypocrites.
And even if “her wherever” is in reference to a vagina and menstrual blood, I’m not sure what’s so horrifying about that. It’s only disturbing if you think there’s anything wrong with menstrual blood and it shouldn’t be mentioned in polite company. Yes, it’s an idiotic remark of an aging hysteric but in terms of actual damage done to actual women, there wasn’t any candidate on that stage who had anything to teach Trump.
Also, before anybody accuses me of hating Megyn Kelly, I believe she is a sensationally beautiful and an extraordinarily successful woman. I disagree with her on everything but I admire her great achievement.

Seriously. Rubio couldn’t bring himself to say ‘Yes’ when asked if his daughter had a life-threatening pregnancy, would he be OK with an abortion. Nobody batted an eyelid.
Also, it’s funny how these unhinged assholes cheer the loudest every time some candidate says ‘I hate being PC’ to justify the shit said about mexicans and blacks, but this comment went too far. Funny when you’re the target of a slur. The rules magically change.

And notice how they claim to hate rapists yet victims of rape should totally be forced to carry to term a pregnancy that results from rape. And that’s real victims of real rape, not some imaginary hordes of Mexican rapists who are supposedly storming the border.

I agree with you 100%. Scott Walker and Marco Rubio essentially favor executing pregnant women. I find that far more disturbing than any of Trump’s nutty bluster (though he is undoubtedly a misogynist.)

What I don’t get is this. I’m hearing that over 80% of Americans support the life exception to the abortion ban. Yet these candidates seem terrified of saying what the majority of population believes. Why? I know about the 16% of Christian fundamentalists but they are still quite a small minority. Why are the candidates so in thrall to them?
Huckabee is obviously a fanatic himself and a believer. But Rubio is totally faking it. I don’t know about Walker. I don’t perceive him as entirely human and can make no analysis of his beliefs and motivations.

It’s like this entire huge country has been taken hostage by quite a small group of terrified, angry, confused folks who have extreme trouble processing the realities of the modern world. This minority keeps freaking out and we are all wasting time, energy and resources dancing around them instead of just telling them to drag themselves up by their bootstraps or whatever their favorite saying is.
Fringes should be on the fringe and not in the center of attention.

It is amazing how much of this there is. There are contexts in which I do it, but it seems that a lot of people do it in even more contexts.

So to give some perspective on why this is, i live in cleveland and went to a pretty hard core conservative debate watch party put on by a major conservative group as they were in town for the debate (mainly because my new place i didn’t get cable). As i think you may know very fiscally conservative but mainly socially moderate / libertarian. The number one issue with this crowd was planned parenthood scandal. I personally do think planned parenthood was pretty gruesome with they handled some of the topics on the videos (yes edited, but not totally out of context). But for me it is maybe issue number 15 or 20 that matter to me.
To the majority of conservative primary voters (espeically pretty hard core right ring and religious in nature) this is probably the number 1 or 2 issue. That makes it super powerful in how they talk about it.
Hope maybe that provides some perspective in terms of why its such an issue. Of the early voters and volunteers abortion / social issues of the like are probably important to 50-70%, vs. the 20% or so of the general population etc. That is why they must talk the way they do.
And, for these indivdiuals they basically see abortion as murder, and its really hard to compromise when you see it that way. Personally have a much more nuanced view on the issue, but again this is about number 15 on the lists of issues i think the govt. and president should focus on, but i am not there target audience at this point.

I agree completely that this is so not the issue we should concentrate on. There’s so much going on that’s got to be fixed as soon as possible. And these abortion debates never lead anywhere.
I’d prefer we all concentrated on the economy right now. The global economy is changing, we need to prepare. Plus, of course, a lot is happening in terms of foreign policy. And all of this can actually be addressed productively.
So yes, I agree completely, strange as that might be. 🙂

Perhaps their billionaire sugar daddies don’t believe in abortion for any reason? Maybe the most excitable GOTV people are that extreme? Certainly the most frightening ones do. The people who run Operation Rescue or The Center for Medical Progress don’t care about exceptions.
