   At least Rubio had a good comeback when the debate moderator asked about a Florida newspaper that had suggested that Rubio resign because he’d missed so many sessions in the Senate.

   Rubio pointed out that when John Kerry and Obama were running for President, they missed at least as many Senate sessions as he had — and that same newspaper not only ignored those Democrats’ absences but actually ENDORSED them.

      That’s true. However, Rubio is supposed to be representing Florida in the Senate, whereas John Kerry and Obama were not. So it makes sense that a Florida newspaper/some Floridians might have a problem with that. Were there papers in Massachusetts and Illinois that chided both of them for missing Senate votes?

      Weirdly, even though Rubio is from Florida, he doesn’t seem to have that home state advantage in this primary at present. Trump and Carson lead. Did Obama, Kerry, or McCain have these advantages in the primary according to polls? I wonder.

      Even liberal papers care about representation. The Tampa Bay Times , which leans Democratic, endorsed CW Bill Young in his last election solely because he got many projects and funds for Florida through his senior status on several committees.

      Trilogy is incredibly dumb. He could have said something like, “If you suck at representing one state, why should you represent an entire nation? Nobody complains about attendance unless you’re not getting the job done while you’re there.”

         • I don’t know about Massachusetts, but in Illinois, oh yes. Until today, it’s a topic that wouldn’t die down.

         • I have an increasing suspicion that he doesn’t want this campaign, doesn’t want to run, just wants to go home and play fantasy football (which I support him doing as soon as possible.) I have a feeling that Daddy is forcing him to run. Maybe not in so many words but with the power of his fatherly authority.

            He has excellent reasons not to run:
            You would applaud Columba’s eschewing the spotlight, but that’s a fatal drawback for a presidential campaign, in which people seek to demonstrate they’re human by having their spouse serve as a junior campaigner. She has always hated it when he was campaigning or in office.
            In 1994, Jeb ran for governor against Lawton Chiles and lost. He campaigned six days a week, morning and night, only slowing down when he was “dog sick,” he said. His wife, meanwhile, was home and overwhelmed with raising teenage children. One of them had a drug problem—only years later did they publicly admit that it was their daughter, Noelle. George P., then a Rice University student, was caught by police that year breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s house at 4 a.m. to see her; when her father asked him to leave, he drove his Ford Explorer over her family’s front lawn. The Schweizer biography reports that during that period, several family members overheard Columba say to Jeb, “You’ve ruined my life.” …

            Friends say that Columba’s biggest concern today is keeping Noelle stable and out of the public eye. Now 38, Noelle lives in Orlando, where she works at a software firm. By all accounts, she is okay but fragile. “

               I think he’d happily step over the daughter if he had any chance of winning. This story just sounds like a feel-good exit strategy for a failed campaign. Of course, it’s more convenient for Jeb to claim that he’s dropping out “for the good of the kiddies” and not because he failed to attract any voters in spite of a huge campaign fund.

               And the poor daughter will be used once again to further Daddy’s ambitions.

   There is plenty else about Rubio that disgusts me that I don’t even have to consider his salary or attendance record.
