The Clinic

I didn’t make any announcements about the pregnancy because even though most people are very normal and kind, there’s always a couple of aggressive fools who come out of nowhere and start freaking out all over you.

Because of my history, this was obviously a high-risk pregnancy, and I found this great clinic in St Louis that specializes in precisely this kind of cases. This is a team of great doctors and nurses who watch you very closely and support you throughout the pregnancy. For many weeks, they would call me on the phone once or twice a day, EVERY day, helping me handle things.

All of the doctors in this practice seem to have training in psychology, and this is what helps them work with patients like me.

The bad news, however, is that I’m one of the clinic’s last full-time patients. The clinic is ditching the long-term, personalized care and will adopt a conveyor belt approach of seeing random patients on a situational, crisis – solving basis. I’m happy Klara and I managed to squeak by before this happened.

  1. I’m very happy to hear that you received such excellent care (though sad that the clinic is changing its model) But most of all, I’m impressed that you are still posting. You are officially the most committed blogger ever! 🙂

  2. I completely understand why you kept your pregnancy under wraps. It’s wonderful you were able to find such an excellent clinic for yourself and Klara.
I was surprised you posted here at all today and yesterday!

    Happy Birthday Klara!

      1. So brave lady, are you going to continue to distract yourself tomorrow might, by posting while the Republican debate is going on on CBS from 7 to 9 p.m. ?

It would be a shame if you left all the commentary to the tender mercies of partisans like Stringer Boy and me, without injecting a little sanity into our comments. 🙂

BTW: Klara looks EXACTLY like you (minus the hair, of course), even to the smugly confident expression on her face — seeing at that photo, there’s NO doubt about who her mother is! 🙂 🙂

  3. Well done for keeping your pregnancy under wraps, obviously the right decision in your circumstances. You’re such a dedicated blogger but damn the elections, you’ve got a beautiful baby! Whatever other people say, don’t feel you have to keep us all updated all the time, you may find you and N have other things to do. Sue x
