The “Pro-rape Shirt” Scandal

People are such freaks. It turns out that there is a huge scandal about this shirt because a bunch of idiots has decided it’s “pro-rape.”

Encouraging people to say “no” and making a strong refusal more socially acceptable is, of course, enormously helpful to the cause of protecting sexual boundaries of individuals. Many people are robbed of agency over their bodies since childhood and fall easy prey to sexual predators. Abusers have a gift for spotting people whose bodily boundaries have been breached for as long as they’ve existed and exploit their trauma to gain sexual access to them against their will. Pointing this out is not “rapey” (and God, I’m finding it hard not to spit at the fools who use this disgusting word). It’s crucial.

  1. In episode #456 of modern feminism returning to ultra-traditional models of femininity it’s now apparently impossible to discern what women think by relying on what they say or do.

A woman pursuing a man sexually in an aggressive manner does not indicate consent at the time if she says it wasn’t later (see Ghomeshi trial)

It’s apparently impossible to determine consent by anything a modern woman does or says (since something she said at one time can easily be overridden later).

This seems like a return to the ancient model of Woman as Unknowable Pre-rational Other. It’s kind of difficult to take feminism seriously if it takes ideas like that seriously.

(disclaimer: yes I realize that abusers can manipulate people into doing things they regret later, but if only adults are involved that should not be legally actionable.)
