Betrayed by Mommy

Unfortunately, I’ve heard a lot of things in recent months,

much of it directed at me, that leads me to believe that Trump knows exactly what he’s doing with this demeaning, disgusting sexist description of Clinton and that it could be successful. I just don’t think most people find this to be out of bounds.

I haven’t had anything directed at me but yes, absolutely. Try to find a single male Bernie supporter who has written a word to denounce these statements. Or better yet, don’t waste your time. The best they can do is say “of course, there’s sexism BUT”. And then you’ll hear the most boring, robotic explanation of the BUT where “hawkish”, the favorite word of all intellectually limited folks, plays a central role.

Bernie’s tragedy is the incredibly low quality of many of his supporters. They are superficial, chirpy people who seem to idolize Sanders but who, in reality, don’t even extend to him the courtesy of trying to understand what he is saying. The other day I wrote an in – depth analysis of Bernie’s college reform plan. It was linked and retweeted more than once. Did anybody respond to it with an analysis of their own, though? No, of course not.

Look at Trump supporters. They actually have a lot to say about the substance of his proposals. I find it mind-boggling that the only candidate in this entire race whose supporters are completely indifferent to what he actually proposes should be Bernie. I have maybe 50 pro-Bernie blogs in my blogroll and all they are ever about is how they are aggrieved and Hillary is bad. That’s it, never anything else. After a while, all this pro-Bernie writing sounds like I primal wail of “Mommy neglected me by going to work and I’m sad.”

  1. Out of topic when looking closer – but my thoughts jumped to Belgium, where a serial kidnapper, raper and murderer of several children is jailed. And when media reported that he was up for a trial of possible early release – his old mother wrote the judge: “Please don’t release my son! He is a beast!”
So there are limits to motherly love. Was it betrayal?

    1. She is the one who brought him up and inflicted him on the world. Beasts come from other beasts, not humans. I’d like to see her take responsibility for that because there might just be a link between her willingness to insist that he should be locked up and his own stellar personal qualities.
