I came upon the weirdest sentence in the Sunday NYTIMES. Here it is:

Part of Mr. Khan’s pitch to Londoners is that, as an observant Muslim (he does not drink), he has a plan to tackle extremism.

I’m hoping these are not the words of the future mayor of London but a clumsy retelling by an idiot reporter. Because “Islam is all about not drinking and not drinking is my grand plan to battle extremism because Islam is extremist and is all about not drinking” sounds stunningly stupid.

Londoners, how do you feel about Mr Khan? I obviously can’t rely on the NYTIMES for a reliable account.

  1. I’m not a Londoner today, but was born there. Not sure I’d be totally keen on any of the candidates, but this comment on Kahn must be some reporter who can’t get over obsessing about his Muslim-ness.
    Kahn has got probably quite an important policy on housing – well at least it’s important for Londoners and those of us who can no longer afford to be Londoners because of the insane property boom!
