Non-judgmental

So everyone was all like “Go to a different OB-GYN, go to somebody less religious.” So I did. And here is what the new OB-GYN came up with to make patients feel totally not judged for having aborted. Just in case you are not entirely sure how your doctor feels about your reproductive choices, lift up your eyes as you are laying on the examination table, and encounter this, you dirty whore.

I never aborted but even I felt judged because who knows what in my medical history might prompt the doctor to start praying for my sins. I’m worried that unless I’ve given virgin birth, I might not be pure enough.

Your new gynecologist has THIS on his/her office wall? YIKES! Not at all professional or appropriate!

From what you’ve posted about various physician encounters over the years, you sure don’t seem to have very good luck picking doctors.

I’ve had the best doctors ever observing me throughout this pregnancy, and that’s enough for me. The routine OB-GYN doesn’t really matter that much. I’m getting posts out of it, at least. 🙂

Back in the 1980s when I was the only doctor on a small Air Force base in Sicily (so I was doing general medicine and did all the examinations on everybody), I put a picture of Tom Selleck on the ceiling above the exam table, so female patients would see it when they were lying on their back.

The women on the base were all young enlisted women in their twenties, and they found the picture entertaining.

That’s awful. It’s why I really wonder whether sane people should even be living in places where doctors can get away with doing stuff like this.

Do you have a general practice physician such as an internist or family practice doctor? She or he could take care of routine gynecological issues and then you could avoid these creeps who seem to have picked their speciality for all the wrong reasons.

The Jews and the Christians have disappointed, so I found myself a Muslim GP. I’m going on Tuesday, we’ll see how it goes.

How do you know the religion of your doctors? Are you going by the surnames?

Yes, there is a flaw in my system. The presumptive Muslim might turn out to be a Christian convert. But at least I tried!
