Alton Sterling

Question. Why is the taxpayers’ money being wasted on body cams if they are never on when shootings actually happen? Is the point of those cameras to exist in a switched off state or to record what is going on?

  1. Body cams are talismans against the perceived unpredictability and irrationality of the police and counters against the strong presumption that people who die at the hands of police deserved it.

The mysterious switching off are attempts to avoid accountability, which such police officers are mostly successful in doing.

However, video cameras do not remove prejudice or bias in the eyes of onlookers.
