The Last Debate! Liveblogging

The last chance to see Trump! Don’t miss it!

8:05 – love the beautiful white suit of our next Commander in Chief.

8:07 – the losing candidate informed us that “the Supreme Court is what this is all about.” It’s not but what do you expect from a losing candidate?

8:09 – hey, Trump will appoint 20 justices to SCOTUS. The more the merrier.

8:13 – “Hillary was angry, extremely angry!” whines the sore loser.

8:17 – the moderator has the voice of an old, unhealthy goat.

8:18 – Hillary is very strong on reproductive rights.

8:21 – this whole thing about people killed by illegal immigrants is incomprehensible to me. Murder is a tragedy. How does it help to know that a person was killed by a citizen as opposed to an illegal immigrant?

8:25 – in desperation, Trump trots out the tired old line about NAFTA.

8:26 – the old goat tries to control Trump.

8:27 – Trump should stop saying “bigly” because it reminds everybody that he looks all “pigly.”

8:29 – I’m glad that Hillary is connecting Wikileaks and Putin.

8:30 – yeah, people will totally pour across the border that the US shares with Syria.

8:32 – Trump is so deep in with Putin that he doesn’t dare repudiate him during the debate. Wow, that’s huge.

8:45 – it’s clear that Hillary has been desperate to talk about the economy. Which is the Dems’ strongest point.

8:46 – I’m almost going to miss the Trumpazoid and his limp ramblings. “She gave us ISIS.” What a wimp.

9:07 – wow, the wimp is refusing to say he’ll accept the results of the election. What a little crybaby. Even the moderator calls Trump the loser.

9:21 – Trump is using his very last chance to lick Putin’s boot like an obedient little doggy.

9:36 – Trump thinks it’s a good idea to close with “our women are disrespected.” What a dweeb.

  1. 939 Notes: Clinton is wearing a single breasted cream suit. Trump looks squinty pouty thin lipped and subdued when he isn’t attacking.

The moderator has fairly tight control… for now

Whoa, lady! When have I EVER said anything to indicate that Trump is “my candidate”?

He’s no more fit to be President than the equally unprincipled sociopath that he’s debating.

          1. So if I’m not for Hillary that means I’m FOR Trump???????????????

By that logic, if I vote for Jill Stein or Gary Johnson (I won’t!), does that mean I’m actually voting for Trump? Or supporting Hillary? Or maybe even Putin??????

I think logic just flew out the window!

HRC describes what he said at rallies afterwards. Trump keeps interupting to deny.

  7. 957: Trump: Groping is fictional! HRC’s emails are real!

Trump blames her for violence at rallies… Can we talk about ISIS.

1000: Clinton Foundation question. She is so sick of these questions. Pivots to telling people what the foundation did… Crosstalk from all three. HRC looks briefly pissed.

  10. 1025: national debt! So weird Trump is pivoting toward trickle down Keynesianism. Keeps blabbering about trade deals. Everyone is smarter than the US! Everything will be great!

1029: I’m going to invest in you!

1039: Social Security is dooomed! Will you follow the Paul Ryan plan?

Trump pivots to repeal and replace Obamacare. Says “she’s going to make it worse and can’t make it worse.”

HRC goes through her answer. Trump keeps interupting.

    1034: Your minute elevator speech.
HRC runs through her elevator speech.
Trump attacks and paints a picture of doom. Keeps babbling about “Make America Again!” Reminds people that voting for her is exactly like voting for Obama.

Well maintaining some level of border security is part of the traditional nation state bargain. What’s going on is that governments are withdrawing at light speed from their traditional commitments to the citizenry without explaining what or why they’re doing it and while expecting the citizenry to continue to honor its nation state commitments to the government. That is morally irresponsible and will only further erode citizen (to the extent that such a thing can function anymore) disengagement.

And this is also about the victim’s survivors. It’s one thing to know a loved one was killed due to forces beyond the control of anyone but the murderer. It’s a much heavier burder to realize that the murder might have been prevented had the government simply FOLLOWED ITS OWN LAWS. There’s a humiliation factor on top of the personal loss.

A traffic accident caused by a drunk driver is terrible, it would be worse for the survivors if they found out the accident was caused by someone the police had stopped found to have a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit and then let them go on driving.

      • Exactly. And it’s very easy to distract everybody’s attention from what is going on by constantly displacing the blame on uncontrollable immigration. There is no way to control migratory flows. And this is now being presented as THE reason to dismantle the welfare state. Even though in areas with no immigrants the same destruction of the welfare state is under way.

“And this is also about the victim’s survivors. It’s one thing to know a loved one was killed due to forces beyond the control of anyone but the murderer. It’s a much heavier burder to realize that the murder might have been prevented had the government simply FOLLOWED ITS OWN LAWS.”

      • That’s precisely what Zygmunt Bauman is saying. 🙂 Existential anxieties are easier to bear when they are given a face and a name.

Second what cliff said and there is also another point:

if illegal immigrants commit crimes at higher rates than citizens and/or legal immigrants, it’s another good reason to try and limit their numbers.

Don’t know if it’s true for USA, but it’s seemingly true for Europe and for Israel, where illegal Palestinian workers are a known security risk.

You are incensed by Russian criminals being invited to Europe. Other people are angry at (what they perceive as) illegal immigrant criminals being let in.

      • It’s the other way round: national governments are disinvesting in all forms of public life, including policing. In order to prepare people for the growth in crime rates, the bugbear of immigrants is being trotted out. When the crime rates do rise because of disinvestiment in public services, everybody will know whom to blame and will praise instead of condemn the politicians who are taking away their public services.

    Just read the latest news:

Lethal terror attack in Be’er Sheva thwarted
Four-man terror cell planned to hurl grenades at dancers at a celebration in an events hall, hide weapons to inflict further damage in trash cans; conspirators also intended to abduct and kill an IDF soldier from city’s central bus station and use remains as a bargaining chip.

During the investigation of the four conspirators, one of whom is a resident of the bedouin town of Tel as-Sabi in the Negev and the other three illegal aliens from Gaza, interrogators discovered that the planned attack was the brainchild of the Gaza-based Islamic Jihad organization.

The suspects, some of whom worked in the events hall which they intended to strike, carefully planned their attack as they collected information about their target.
