Now that the election had been decided, people are back to optical illusions and all kinds of Twitter fun.
In case you haven’t seen it, here is the notorious image for those who want to make their legs look really oily. Why? Because the election has been decided and it’s time to unwind.

Ha ha. This is a standard technique that painters have known for centuries, if not more. 🙂

The girl’s legs simply have streaks and dabs of white paint on them, and some people viewing the picture misinterpret the white paint as being light reflected off non-existent shiny oil on her skin.
This is a lot easier than predicting what the electoral count will be on election night. 🙂

The technique is called ‘specular highlights’. Unfortunately Google is throwing up references only about 3D graphics, perhaps it’s called something else in the context of paintings. It’s a standard technique. Go to any neighborhood art museum and you’ll find at least one painting that has used it.

Decided? Possibly, but it’s not so sure. Complacency and triumphalism are dangerous for Clinton.
In French, we say “Ne pas vendre la peau de l’ours avant de l’avoir tué”.

Wow, there is an exact same expression in Russian, only instead if selling the bearskin, they decide who gets which part.

I think you will be sweating election night. I predict 272 – 266 clinton win. This assumes trump takes florida, nc, ohio, nevada. all are within 2 points broadly, and think he has enthusiasm.
With that being said he has MUCH harder time to take one of 6-7 other states (of which he only needs one) – new hampshire, michigan, pennsylvannia, wisconson, virginia, colorado. I think his best chance is new hampshire (demographics and him winning primary there etc).
Ultimately winning is all that matters. i think then notion of a mandate if hillary wins 330 electoral college is ridiculous. Obama had that in both elections and no one thought he had a mandate, it was simply the fact that he had 60 votes in senate so he could get stuff done.
Point is, you will sweat election night more than you think (barring another scandal / tape in the last week)
