Yes, We Can

So after we raised the tiniest of stinks about the health insurance, money suddenly appeared and part of unpaid claims was magically covered. And it was a very small stink. There wasn’t even a rally or any newscasts.

If anybody tells you that protesting is useless  and speaking out is a waste of time , don’t believe them. If we don’t allow anybody to distract us with discussions of walls, ancestries, or any such crap, we can make things happen.

What was this “tiniest of stinks” exactly? IOW, what did you do? You mentioned some colleagues of yours went into bankruptcy because of this situation.

Literally, all I did was to write up my story and send it out to every colleague through university email. And that started an avalanche of people sharing their own stories. Why they’d just sat there silent before that is a mystery.

Every administrator, everybody read the stories. As they kept accumulating and people started adding suggestions for a rally, magically some money surfaced.

      That’s all it took!

It can also help if someone on the staff is related by kin or marriage to a legislator. Its remarkable what family ties can do.
