Prediction

In under two years it will become clear that Trump won’t bring the [non-existent] industrial jobs back but people won’t care because he’ll distract everybody’s attention by starting some idiotic war with whomever the Russians tell him to attack: Iran, the Saudis, etc. Everybody will burn with patriotic enthusiasm, and the economy will be forgotten. And then, after Trump and his cronies steal everything there is to steal, we will have a global economic crisis.

Yes, it happened already, in very recent memory. But people tend to repeat the same dumb mistakes as many times as possible.

  1. Well, in this post-fact world this is already happening.

He tweeted recently that he talked with the CEO of Ford and they’re now shelving plans to move a factory to Mexico. A few minutes of research would’ve made it clear that this was a lie, and Ford never had any plans to move that particular factory anyway.

But it got reported as #NEWS. His supporters joyous that he’s already working hard for them even before he takes office.

If Breitbart and Fox news were all you consumed, how would you ever know he was lying?

The apparent single-issue voter of 2016 whose only concern was the financial improprieties of the candidates’ foundations still voted for Trump.

    Nothing matters anymore.

    1. Absolutely. It’s not about facts. It’s about manipulating perception.

But the chances that he won’t start a war to distract attention are slim anyway.

  2. He will not have a war with iran or saudi arabia. ridiculous. Not even close to iraq btw, hope you can figure out why its different.

He is less likely to get into a war than hillary would have been. You are OBSESSED with the russia angle just like the sjw you mock are obsessed and blinded by their privellage and race and gender issues. Its not becoming.

    1. It’s spelled “privilege.” And “it is” is contracted to “it’s”, with an apostrophe. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Russia and Hillary are proper names and thus begin with a capital letter.

      You are welcome!

    2. It’s funny to me that you’re lecturing her on her tone. Clearly “tone” and what’s “becoming” doesn’t really matter anymore. How long have you been reading this blog, anyways?

      1. The important thing here is that Trump, Hillary, Bernie, the Santa Claus, etc will not be bringing back manufacturing jobs. Because they are being phased out of existence.

    3. Trump himself will definitely not get into a war with whomever. Dude likes his high life. Unfortunately for us all, he’s nowhere near the level of competence required to run this shit, and I can make no such hedonist promises for the faithful he’s bringing into his administration.

  3. I agree with your analysis completely. I also agree with a post you wrote earlier that the almost miraculous economic recovery that Obama oversaw is somehow Trump’s doing. Ridiculous.

  4. I just learned that a former colleague is now a postdoctoral fellow in Econometrics even though she was not as good as me. Post-factual shenanigans began way before Trump’s arrival in academia, especially in Econometrics.

    1. Do you know how I lost the chance of a job I really wanted? (And that department loved me, too). A fellow asked the chair to hire someone else as a favor. And then confessed it to me.

      So I hear you.
