Pussyhats

The Women’s March on Washington now has an unofficial uniform: a pink, knitted hat shaped to look like two pointy cat ears. Two California-based women and the knitting instructor who designed the hat have released the pattern for free online. They’re calling them “pussyhats.”

Freaks. Hopeless, deranged freaks. In the midst of everything that is going on, they are valiantly defending their right to wear pink hats with ears. It’s like we haven’t debased feminism enough with dumbass slutwalks.

The name actually alludes to Trump and his mysogynistic comments on grabbing women by the pussy. And it’s a huge thing, thousands of hats are being made in US and all over the world:

Thank you, I actually managed to read the entire article in Salon so I’m well aware.

And of course, it’s a huge hit. Idiocy always is.

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Not my style, wouldn’t wear it. I associate knitting with enforced boredom.

The problem is not whether women wear kawaii knit hats or fleece lined pantsuits in the middle of January in DC. It’s whether this march dissipates energy once it’s done instead of inspiring people to act long term.

I hate it when important issues are drowned in pathetic triviality. Especially when the triviality in question has pink ears. Why not just dress like Playboy bunnies to begin with?

I agree. And I posted on the P**y Hat Facebook. Respectfully but saying the hats infantalized women as they are based on baby girl knitted hats. Women tore into me as if I’d suggested they date Trump. I did not vote for Trump. I am for peaceful protest. But this stupid hat movement is making women look idiotic.

Speaking of trivialities, here’s Frank Bruni, literally the worst columnist at NY Times, engaging in some fan fiction.

This is what Resistance looks like to a stupid, coddled, talentless man to whom politics is nothing more than entertainment.

“Hillary Clinton as New York City mayor? Imagine the fun.
    .
    .

City building inspectors start to show up daily at Trump Tower, where they find a wobbly beam here, a missing smoke detector there, outdated wiring all over the place. City health inspectors fan out through Trump’s hotels, writing citations for clogged drains in the kitchens and expired milk in the minibars.

    .
    .

The city’s Mexican Day Parade would be rerouted, from Madison Avenue over to Fifth, right past Trump Tower. And in the city’s libraries, “The Art of the Deal” would be impossible to find, while upfront, on vivid display, there’d be copies galore of “It Takes a Village” and “Hard Choices.”

Some choices aren’t hard at all. Run, Hillary, run.”

Oh God. I agree with you 100%. This is SO PATHETIC. And I hope Hillary just stops running for things and withdraws from politics. I want her to have some dignity. It’s like those ancient tenured profs who haven’t had anything new to say for 2 decades but just wouldn’t retire and free up the spot.

I lost all respect for Bruni. Not that I had much to begin with.

Come on, Bruni’s column is obviously meant to be tongue-in-cheek. 🙂

The method he used to communicate the idea could be called ‘humor’, I suppose. But he is serious. Read the article. He’s discussing the possible matchup, the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates, etc.

People just need to know when it’s time to quit. She’s 70, she has 2 grandchildren. It’s time to withdraw from politics and just live.

Traditionally ex-Presidents and their spouses attend inaugurations. Shrub, Carter & their spouses are going. HW & his spouse are not. Zombie Ronald Reagan is unable to attend. If you really fear she’s going to run again for anything, this is a signal she isn’t.

Besides, a ceremony is one thing, a campaign is another.

    Isn’t this a mixed message?

Take women seriously! (while wearing a pink cap with cats ears)

Stop infantilizing women! (while wearing a pink cap with cats ears)

I would say that current feminism could not become more ridiculous…. but I’m afraid I might be wrong.

If you can be trivialized by your sartorial choices then it’s not like you were ever taken seriously in the first place. This is why I’m not too upset over the Hello Kitty knitwear auxilliary.
“I would’ve totally listened to what those women wanted to say but I couldn’t hear anything over all of that pink,” said no genuinely open minded person ever.

The problem is that they’ve got nothing besides the car ears. That’s precisely why they need the cat ears. The ears are supposed to distract attention from their utter vapidity.

For me, a part of being a feminist is not allowing anybody to tell me what to wear. This definitely includes pink knitted hats with cat’s ears.

“Dumbass slutwalks?” Hun, have you not seen Mean Girls? Have whatever opinion you like, but a true feminist doesn’t aspire to bring others down. At least debate respectfully. I’m no fan of the hats either, but don’t criticize your fellow women. We can’t let this be a nation fueled by hate. We fight together, we don’t throw out insults. Some can fight in different ways then others, but it’s all for the same cause—equal rights for all genders. Don’t let America become more corrupt than it already is. Please spread some love.

You must be new around here if you are unaware that I do not allow anybody to issue orders to me. I’ll forgive you this one time but one more command addressed to me and you are out.

Excuse me, I don’t believe commands include the word ‘please’. I am neither in a position to tell you what to do nor do I intend to. I’m just a polite onlooker, ma’am, but one does not tend to continue looking on when there is blatant hatred expressed. I would feel guilty to let this continue without saying something. I’m not trying to pick a fight (if you recall, I’m on your side), I simply believe in unity and freedom. You are fighting the same fight as these women. Why should you care how they do it? It’s definitely effective. These people are bringing us closer to an equal world. Why should it mater how it’s done? In insulting them, you also insult their battle. Once again, I’m not trying to start a petty stream of hate comments, I simply want to make my voice heard, just as you do. And by the way, it’s hard to create a blog; it takes a lot of time and effort. Well done. You’re obviously determined and hardworking, no matter how we differ. Kudos.

You keep making egregiously insulting and condescending comments. Since you are unaware, the following “Well done. You’re obviously determined and hardworking, no matter how we differ.” is not a normal way to address complete strangers. It’s patronizing and insulting. Since you have not yet been socialized into adulthood, you need to go away. I don’t tolerate this ridiculous behavior around here.

It’s clear why dumb bints with cat ears are so pleasing to you.

That “insulting and condescending comment” was intended as a complement. One may call it “putting aside differences.” “It’s clear why dumb bints with cat ears are so pleasing to you,” is not a normal way to address complete strangers. It can even be considered “patronizing and insulting” to some people. I have offered and unbiased opinion and requested a favor of you to treat fellow women with respect. You are beautiful, I don’t understand what inner rage would cause you to say things like this about a group of girls wearing pink hats and even people on your side of the issue (this is the third time I have said that I agree with you so your comment about that hats being “pleasing to me” is completely implausible). Thank you for your time.

      • Deciding that I need compliments from complete strangers is patronizing.

“I have offered and unbiased opinion and requested a favor of you to treat fellow women with respect.”

      • You are the one to talk about respect. I haven’t had such a rude commenter in months.

“You are beautiful, I don’t understand what inner rage would cause you to say things like this about a group of girls wearing pink hats and even people on your side of the issue”

      • Are you for real or is this some awkward attempt at trolling?

But yes, I have a lot of inner and outer rage at idiot broads who humiliate and infantilize themselves by wearing pink cat ears on their heads. Normal women find it so much harder to be taken seriously after these pathetic displays of childishness. I’m not on the same side with these losers.

Deciding that I need INSULTS from complete strangers is patronizing. I don’t think you need compliments, I am merely offering you my love. Please accept it. I will merely tell you: I am not trolling, I’m spreading love to all, even those who don’t necessarily think the same way as I do. Hate won’t stop me. I have said nothing to offend you. I came full of love and I leave full of love. Your comments have not changed my soul or tarnished my spirit in any way, shape, or form. I am leaving this blog leaving behind with a message of love. This is a cruel and twisted world, but everyone has something they love. Maybe for you it’s a person or book or even writing this blog. I’m happy knowing that you are passionate about something. I will not come back as you requested, if that makes you happy. If there is a function to delete comments, feel free to do so. I apologize for causing you distress, that was not my intention. I did not intend to hurt you or sway you from your chosen stance on this matter, but to have a fair and civil debate. I leave you with this message. Spread love to your family and friends. Put it into the things you create. Give a little. You don’t have to follow my advice, but that is the way society is headed. The barriers are made of paper, not diamond, and we bust through more of them every day. Thank you for putting time into this conversation and this blog. Do not feel as though you have to reply to this. I won’t be here to see it, and anyway, everything that needs to be said has been said. I appreciate the work that you put into this blog. Thank you again, and goodbye. I have to go buy some pink yarn.
