Trump’s Incredibly High Approval Ratings

Turns out that all those stories about Trump’s low approval ratings are garbage. He has enormously low approval ratings among Democrats. With Republicans, on the other hand, his approval is a sky-high 87%. So in the eyes of the people he is supposed to try to please he’s doing fantastic. Even Putin has a lower approval rating, and that’s with a fully controlled media apparatus.

Instead of the gleeful “Ha, Trump is so hated, that loser”, we should concentrate on why he is so enormously successful with his voters.

One way to understand President Trump’s popularity might be to watch this video of his Melbourne, Florida rally yesterday evening. Trump was introduced by the First Lady. Please note the signs held aloft by diverse people.

None of those stories are garbage, really. They just didn’t break it out by party affiliation. He is still in office because Republicans who elected Republican congresspeople (and Republican congresspeople themselves) see him as useful/approve. The OVERALL rating is still very low.

We should concentrate on why he is so enormously successful with his voters

He is keeping his promise to screw those in the out-group. This is why so many charisma voids are successful Republican politicians (Ted “No Duchenne smile” Cruz, Scott Walker’s mug, etc.) . Never underestimate how far that goes.

Support for Trump is an acknowledgement that the promise is empty.

  I.e., as I’ve been saying, the voters want the nation-state to collapse and awaiting this process with glee. You can’t argue with the will of the people.

Per my other comment, the change will happen when it becomes a pocketbook issue for his supporters. They enjoy watching other people get the shaft when it doesn’t cost them anything. (And they don’t care about anything outside US borders.) When they start taking financial hits, it becomes a whole different story.

  Here in Illinois, many of the public workers who can’t go to a doctor because of the Republican governor support him and Trump passionately.
  
  Money considerations are nothing for people who aren’t super rich. Only the billionaires care about money.
