Not to be outdone by rich male entertainers, rich female entertainers are participating in “The Rich Also Cry” spectacle aimed at give the audience a warm and fuzzy feeling of being in the position to pity Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.

We’ve done sports, we’ve done movies. What’s next? Melanka Trump will weep on screen and we’ll all go crazy with compassion?

I think nobody but billionaires should ever run for president. The voters don’t seem capable of responding to anybody but the megarich.

Is this about the Harvey Weinstein scandal? I understand that you hate the rich (and there are many good reasons to mistrust them), but hell… they are people too.
I know, it sounds stupid, and I feel stupid typing it too. Yet, these famous women were abused by a powerful man, and were too scared to press charges. One can only wonder what he did to lesser known (and lesser wealthy) women.
Sexual assault is not something I would wish to anyone, no matter how well-off they are.
If you are complaining that people go over their head for vips in a way thay don’t do for the regular folks’ troubles, well… “That’s the entertainment industry, baby. The entertainment industry! And there’s nothing you can do about it. Nothing!” (just to semi-quote another rich, powerful actor).

    Exactly. It was next to impossible to get the story out when Rauner kept the whole state’s budget hijacked and thousands of people lost their health insurance and scholarships. Nobody gave a fuck. After that, hell if I waste one second of my life on the dramas of the megarich, entirely talentless starlets like Jolie and Paltrow who, besides, are both extraordinarily immoral in their business dealings. Paltrow dupes millions of women with her snake oil crap she sells to the desperate, dumb customers on her horrible website. Jolie purchases kids for fun. And that’s the kind of individual I’m supposed to waste my life reading and learning about? Fuck that.
    
    I’ll care when they care about the crumbling public higher ed, how about that?

  In neoliberal societies, celebrity gossip has conquered the political space to the point where there is no politics. There’s just the endless melodrama of the rich. But that’s OK because people get to feel part of the world of the rich and famous, so they don’t feel robbed or oppressed.
