After 6 days away from the TV, I finally got home, turned it on and heard the same old “so to what extent did the Russian meddling in the 2016 election…”
God, folks, was this how it was for you during the Cold War? If so, I’m very sorry. It wasn’t like this for us, on the other side of the Iron Curtain. Probably because we only had 2 TV channels and there was nothing even remotely like 24-hour coverage. I know what the screen shows when both of your TV channels are asleep.

NO, not at all! (The Cuban missile crisis was an exception — that scary episode got plenty of coverage while it lasted.)
The reason American political talk shows are currently “all Russian,” all the time has nothing to do with actual concerns about Russia or anything else international. The constant “Russian” talk is by political partisans who are either stressing that Trump needs to be impeached (MSNBC, CNN), or that the Justice Department needs to open an investigation into Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation (Fox News).
Nobody seems to care about the real problem with Putin: that he keeps making total fools out of every U.S. President that he interacts with, and keeps on making major mischief in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, while the U.S. seemingly ignores his actions.

It’s good to know this wasn’t always like this. The way every ridiculous little thing is getting hyped up in the news is beyond obnoxious. And as for the Russian thing, I reached my saturation point last winter.

Yeah… The foreign policy of the US has the profound flaw of being very reactive. There’s no long-term plan or vision. Plus, the voters can’t be made to care.
