FB Advice

Somebody is sharing advice on how to stay healthy during the winter season on FB:

Change your clothes and babies clothes after work/day care.
Hand wash every time you enter your home.
Sanitize door knobs/remotes/light switches daily.
Change hand towels and pillow cases daily.

Wash your hands every time after you put anything into the washer.

I’d only add and then find a good specialist who treats anxiety and OCD.

We wash our hands, obviously. But the rest – I’m sorry, when does one have a life with this regimen?

  1. Free medical advice:

Compulsive hand-washing is very damaging to the skin. For that matter, so is excessive showering, defined as more than once a day except in exceptional circumstances. Prolonged soaking in hot bath water isn’t all that healthy, either.

  2. I think “Change your clothes and babies clothes after work/day care” is common sense advice. I try not to sit in my outside clothes (jeans, skirts, etc.) on household chairs, for instance.

Ditto about “Hand wash every time you enter your home.”

The last two are weird imo.

    1. I have enough trouble persuading Klara to get dressed in the morning. Doing it in the middle of the day, too, would be too much for me. Plus, this is very wasteful because it would mean doing the laundry every day.

  3. ” find a good specialist who treats anxiety and OCD.”

Sterilize the door handle as you leave the house
    Sterilize the steering wheel
Sterilize the door handle to the specilist’s office.
Make sure the specialist washes their hands (you may have to insist on watching)
Spray down the chair you will be sitting on
Sterilize the door handle as you leave
Sterilize the door handle to your car

  4. You want to have some normal exposure to germs. That’s how you build immunity. Anti-Bacterial soap might be counter-productive.
