The MLA is now offering to place your “Twitter handle” on your convention badge. That badge costs $190, by the way.

I thought the badge and an MLA tote was included in the registration fees?
Next they’ll be putting your website, personal cell phone, official email and LinkedIn, Academia.edu, Instagram and Soundcloud information on there too — for an additional fee. Also isn’t that what business cards are for?

Yes, it’s the registration. But in practical terms, all that the registration gets you is the badge. And all the badge gets you is access to the book fair.

Ridiculous. I haven’t decided yet whether to renew. I have been in the MLA for over 30 years & have presented there so much.
