The Unusual Challenge, Days 8 & 9

Yesterday’s unusual activity was not setting my alarm to see how long I can sleep. Turned out, very long. And I still conked out at 10:30 pm and couldn’t even post anything about it. Sleep is so annoying.

Today’s activity was a weekday barbecue. It was fantastic. Klara ate a ton of green onions because her 9-year-old friend Zhenechka whom she worships loves them, and Klara has to imitate her in everything. It’s hilarious because she winces as she stuffs them into her mouth but she still keeps eating them.

By the way, does anybody have one of those machines that make fizzy water? I keep thinking that I might want one. Are they good? Klara loves San Pellegrino but it’s pricey plus I hate all the bottles that are wasted.

  1. “Klara loves San Pellegrino but it’s pricey”

That’s because you’re paying for the famous brand and the elegant green glass bottles! You can buy one-littler bottles of Arrowhead brand sparkling water (tastes exactly the same) for about 75 cents each, and Klara can safely play with the empty plastic bottles if she’s so inclined.

And no, she won’t be poisoned from any chemicals in the plastic bottle. I’m a doctor, trust me.

  2. Arrowhead water is hard to find away from the West. I want one of the fizzy water machines. The problem is that you have to keep buying these nitrogen cartridges or something, get them sent to you, I’ve got to get over the feeling that this is cumbersome.

    1. Useful information:
You can order Arrowhead water online on Amazon Prime at ridiculously inflated prices, and at Walmart.com at prices that vary widely, but are occasionally reasonable with free two-day delivery. (If your local Walmart doesn’t carry it, Walmart will ship it free across-country with UPS.)

      Useless info:
The gas in fizzy water is carbon dioxide, the same gas that you expel from your lungs with every breath. Nitrogen, a mostly inert gas, reacts with water chiefly as nitrous oxide to form nitric acid. If you ever drink it, your esophagus will dissolve all the way down to your stomach, and you will be die in agony shortly after you hit the floor.

(Yes, I have a lot of free time this time of the night in Arizona. Why do you ask?)
