“The unwillingness to recognize the limits of reality and any common sense” is according to Caldwell the hallmark of this mentality. I’d also add, “an unwillingness to recognize any limits on your desires.”
The reality is that planetary resources are limited. The reality is that a woman is an adult human female. The reality is that we are limited by the finite nature of our physical environment and by the physicality of our bodies.
But just look at how hysterically the supposedly different sides of our political spectrum react to exactly one half each of this statement.
P.S. I’ll be on this for a while, so fair warning to those who hate this kind of posts. This is how I process my reading, and I understand that it can drive people crazy to see one million posts saying the same thing in ten million ways.
I must have missed your earlier post. Which book is this?

I don’t know yet, I’m still on chapter five. I listen to it in my car and I drive very little so it’s taking some time.
And I still haven’t written a review of Menasse’s novel, which I know you are expecting. The problem with that novel is that I understand what the writer is doing but I’m not feeling it.
