Librarians have always taken great pride in being sure that banned books are available. But maybe that only applies to books banned by governments or churches.

I am having a big sense of deja vu with dr. Seuss books. I hope the people who voted for this are satisfied. Where I grew up, the Sound of music movie was banned (among many other books and movies). I still remember watching an illegal copy at someone’s apartment with a terrible voiceover. We loved it anyway. Banning things is stupid, people are going to find a way to read and watch what they want anyway.
So what are the next children’s books and movies on the chopping block? Actually, I would love for someone to share a list of essential children’s books to have in the library. I did not grow up here, so I am not very familiar with children’s classics in English. Now I am thinking that I better get on this and get some classic books for my child while I can.

Two classics I mentioned elsewhere are Julie of the Wolves and Island of the Blue Dolphins. Be sure to get those while it’s easy.

Speaking of speech restrictions, have you noticed how the main objection to mRNA vaccines — that they have never been used on humans — is nowhere to be found on the media? And how now there are all these articles cropping up about how the J&J vaccine has lower efficacy and so Democrat mayors are rejecting it? I wonder if enough people are now rejecting the mRNA ones and waiting it out for the J&J vaccine.

A separate religious objection to the J&J vaccine has been raised by several high-ranking important officials within the Catholic Church hierarchy. The Archdiocese of New Orleans, among others, has singled out the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, saying that it is “morally compromised” because it uses abortion-derived fetal cells in its development and production.
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are apparently more acceptable to these esteemed arbitrators of Catholic morality, because the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines used fetal cells only in the testing phase, and have no fetal cell material contained in the actual vaccine.
Perhaps Rod Dreher will put out a heart-felt, hyper-emotional article trying to guide anguished Catholics through the wrenching decision that could decide whether they go to Heaven or Hell years after surviving COVID, yet dying years later with mortal sin from taking the wrong vaccine in 2021.
I sincerely hope that Catholics in the high risk categories who need the vaccine will ignore this farcical hair-splitting, and take whichever form of these vaccines are offered as soon as they are available to them.

The Pope took the Pfizer vaccine.

Who knows? On one hand, he’s pro take the vaccines. OTOH, he’s covered religious denominations who feel persecuted by coronavirus safety restrictions extensively. The vaccine is likely just another coercion to them.

It becomes a coercion to everybody once people are forced to take it to be able to work, travel, attend school, etc. This hasn’t happened yet in the US but is happening in other places.
I personally support people’s decision to do whatever they want regarding the vaccine and the “vaccine” as long as nobody tries to force me to take it.

Again: this article illustrates the exact point I am making. Most people will read the media headline and not the content and carry around a vague sense that the JJ vaccine is inferior. The question is why is this happening now.

Canada is issuing statements that at risk group shouldn’t take AstroZeneca. Why? No explanation. And to rephrase a popular Soviet saying, if Trudeau is against something, I’m in favor.

On Seuss: I honestly couldn’t decide if this was parody or not when I was reading it… apparently he’s serious….
