Are You Happy Yet?

Dear Biden voters, here is a little update on the most recent achievements by your president:

1. He requested the largest Pentagon budget in history.

2. He’s withholding COVID vaccines from Mexico until Mexicans promise not to let Central American migrants near the border.

3. The number of “babies in cages” increased dramatically since he’s been inaugurated.

Are you happy with how things are going? Is this what you voted for?

Just wondering.

P.S. Oh, and Biden is now building the wall Trump neglected to build. It’s truly funny.

  1. First, there probably are not as many Biden voters as you think, though the best estimate is 66 million, enough so that you probably encounter some actual Biden voters on campus or in your comments.

Second, except for people who personally profited in some material way from the end of the Trump Administration, we are dealing with NPCs here. The model where people evaluate how candidate’s positions affect them personally and vote accordingly turned out to be false. You are dealing with people voting out of tribal loyalties -that is true of many if not most Trump voters- or because they will follow the instructions of mass media or the people in their lives who turn into mass media. We are not dealing with people who wanted specific policy positions and will be disappointed if they don’t get them.

  2. By the way, WordPress has a somewhat intrusive commenting filter that seems to guarantee that any comments here will be logged in and tracked by Big Tech. I don’t think this is an issue right now for a low visability blog, but I can definitely see this becoming a problem in the future.

We are heading into a period of uncertainty, instability, and conflict. China is extremely aggressive and threatening Taiwan, Russian wants to murder Ukraine, Turkey is antagonizing everyone,…. Do you really want to cut the defense budget in these times?

“2. He’s withholding COVID vaccines from Mexico until Mexicans promise not to let Central American migrants near the border.”

Every source I’ve read mentions USA sending millions of vaccines to Mexico. Come summer, both Canada and Mexico will be flooded with COVID vaccines from the USA. Besides, COVID is just like the flu, so what’s the big deal? 😉

“3. The number of “babies in cages” increased dramatically since he’s been inaugurated.”

    Meh.

I’m very happy not to be hearing about the president of the United States getting into Twitter spats and saying dumb stuff on TV all the time. Keep the reality TV garbage to the Discovery channel.

    1. Don’t get me wrong, if that’s what people wanted when they voted for him, I’m glad they are getting what they wanted. It’s a good thing.

But I know quite a few people who would be wailing to the sky if “the other side” did any of these things. Those people I can’t respect because they are betraying themselves for an illusion of belonging, and that’s not good.

But with people who are getting what they wanted I have no beef.

      1. I listened to the interview and I loved it. The takedown of the inane free market rhetoric was priceless. This is the conservatism I’m into. This! I highly recommend the interview to everybody.

I would personally prefer a real President who happened to get into Twitter spats, to our current zombie Resident-Select who is a senile puppet of whoever bribed him most recently (e.g., China) or of whoever happens to control his handlers (???).

If it’s going to be spent as stupidly as I thoroughly expect to be spent? We might as well cut it. We don’t have a real country any more; why spend trillions so that we can have our carrier groups vaporized by Chinese H-bomb-tipped hypersonic missiles when we ineffectually make a half-hearted gesture at preventing the invasion of Taiwan? Why spend money on a military that can’t keep its navy ships from colliding, but is totally Johnny-on-the-spot about requiring indoctrination sessions where BLM is not considered extremist, and about having the Special Forces get its very own zampolit — I mean, its very own chief diversity officer?

If we ever manage to have regime change in America, and the new government is a government rather than just another stupid and rotten regime, then my views on the military might change. Not until then, though.

It’s about time Biden did something right. At least part of my coming tax increase is going to a good cause.

  7. Just to be clear, the GSW who wrote this post is not the GSW of “irredeemably stupid” fame.

That GSW wouldn’t be caught dead opining on NPC voters, tribal loyalties etc. So it ain’t me.

But she/he is welcome to my 3 letters, it’s not as if I own them or need them here any longer.

      1. Apologies, I had meant to attach this as a reply to the “GSW” who posted first on this thread and begins his/her post with “First, there probably are not as many Biden voters as you think…”

I’m not a vain person, but I wouldn’t want your readers to think that I’d started posting twaddle about NPC and/or tribal voters etc. etc.

But ‘alternate’ GSW, please have at it by all means…
