A great country, a wonderful people. Many happy returns to a country that is so much bigger and stronger than any passing insanity of its rulers. Soon enough the exasperated “oh, Canada. . .” that I so often say these days will be replaced by an admiring, happy “oh, Canada!!” And then I will come home.
Happy Canada Day to you and thanks for reminder that we Canadians are better than the clowns who run our country. Our betters in the media and government are hectoring us to collectively hide our heads in shame–while maintaining a six-foot distance—but luckily we now live in a small town, where people are not embarrassed to festoon their houses with the red Maple Leaf. The town’s fireworks display is cancelled because…COVID!…but neighbours will be gathering to light off our own.
