   I can’t. I couldn’t sleep for two nights in a row and focus on anything else or work. I called my doctor and drove to the pharmacy in a snowstorm to pick up a prescription and managed to sleep tonight.

      I know! I hate sleeping medication but I had to take it because I can’t switch myself off.

      I’m so grateful to have you here on the blog. It really helps to talk to somebody who is going through the same thing.

   It’s difficult to know what’s true and what’s propaganda.

   But if this story from Red State is true, and Ukraine can stand strong for one week, that may be enough to break Putin’s attack. I hope they can and that it is.

   Looks like China is far from a Putin’s puppet as you described:

   Главная неприятность для России пришла со стороны если не союзника, то, как думалось, хотя бы партнера. Китайские банки сообщили, что не будут обслуживать сделки с участием российских компаний. А глава КНР Си Цзиньпин позвонил Владимиру Путину, как подчеркнули сами китайские власти, по просьбе украинского президента Владимира Зеленского. После этой беседы в Москве заявили о готовности начать переговоры с украинскими властями. Похоже, что из-за Москвы Пекин не собирается окончательно портить отношения с Западом.

   Latynina compared today the relationship between China and Russia to the relationship between Stalin and Hitler. In both pairs, the former is happy to let the latter break the world’s order (and pay the price for it) to get future benefits. Naturally, just as Stalin joined anti-Nazi coalition, China won’t go to great lengths to protect Russia. That’s Latynina’s take, and she is an experienced journalist who lives in Russia.
