This is right across from my university. I will see this in nightmares for the rest of my life.
I don’t even live there anymore, and my hatred for the invaders is burning. Imagine what the people who are there feel.

My heart breaks for you, for all of Ukraine. How many more war crimes will Putin and the Russian army commit as the world watches?
Right now he looks weak in front of the whole world and is afraid of enough of ordinary Russians finally turning against him. Add that to the constant fear of assassination he must be living with. He’s massing troops. I’m terrified of what he’ll do next.
I wish hell existed, just for these people.

I’m terrified, too. It’s a very, very dangerous moment for the whole planet. No amount of bellyaching about the NATO diminishes that danger.

Yes, I’ve seen photos of long lines at banks. And earlier today there was an announcement that Visa and Mastercard are shutting Russian banks out of their networks. I’m not sure what alternate networks exist inside of Russia, but that could complicate a lot of transactions for ordinary people. Let’s hope the pain will lead to some sort of change, the pictures from Ukraine are just terrible.

They just hit the television tower in Kyiv. The goal is to disconnect Ukrainian TV and broadcast fake messages about the Russian victory and the capitulation of Ukraine.

Moscow is warning Ukrainian civilians about the coming strike on “Ukrainian government information facilities” in central Kyiv.
That whole area is about to be obliterated. It’s a residential area with some of the buildings being official government ones. That’s where I was lucky enough to grow up. There are no words.

They are getting more and more vicious. It was unbelievable even a few days ago. But now we are seeing the true face of these rat bastards.

oof. Banks… I’ve been trying for the last two days to make a donation to IOCC for Ukraine relief efforts. The transaction won’t go through, and I can’t get anyone on the phone from my bank to tell me what’s not working. It’s not over the limit, the money’s in the account, it doesn’t matter if I try a different amount. Nothing works. I am starting to get paranoid that it’s some kind of “we don’t approve of this charity so we won’t give them your money” issue. I need a new bank…
