Aw, wish I’d thought of that. I used my church basil to make a quiche 🙂

I am going to have to disagree. Basil does not do much for pizza, although it is OK as a variant. Fresh oregano and thyme are necessary, as are mushrooms.

I disagree heartily in favor of fresh pineapple.

I don’t hate pineapple on pizza like many people do because it has the same function as basil for me. It lightens up the very heavy taste and cuts through the saltiness. So I understand why people like it.

I guess that makes sense though I like to lean into the heavy taste, it’s Italian American sauce bread, it’s not supposed to be light that’s what salad is for.

Tomato, basil and garlic is already a meal in itself, you barely need to add pizza to it.
But whole tomato, or even slices or chunks retain oven heat painfully well, and the heat makes their texture worse, not better. I’d rather have shots of raw plasma than have tomato as a pizza topping again, not that there’s that much of a difference.

tomatoes belong on pizza in the form of sauce, not slices… (or ketchup since squiting ketchup on pizza used to be a thing in Poland… what?0
my canonical pizza has pepperoni, anchovies, mushrooms and green pepper not always my favorite but it’s my mental picture

You’re all wrong. Your basic pizza is just dough, tomato paste, and cheese, so it needs some MEAT on it! I suggest anchovies, pepperoni slices, and ground beef.
