Russian nationalist guerrillas are shelling the town of Shebekino in Russia. The regular Russian army has had to divert troops from the frontline with Ukraine and send them to defend Shebekino.
It’s an absolute genius strategy to use Russian nationalists to weaken the regular Russian forces as the Ukrainian offensive is unfolding.
Yet again, I’m stunned at the incredible historical development of Russian nationalists fighting to defend Ukraine’s sovereignty from Russia. When everything fails, you can count on nationalists to do the right thing. Even when it’s very hard.

On the other side, I’m very surprised the Chechens have turned into such Putin boot lickers. The same man that bombed out their cities and killed their fathers/brothers, same as he is trying to do in Ukraine.

The Chechens are an interesting story. They perceive themselves as having won the Russo-Chechen war. Russia has been paying them an enormous vassal-like tribute. They were allowed openly to flaunt all the laws of the Russian Federation. Putin gives them absolutely everything. Yes, they suffered terrible losses but in the end, they brought Russia to its knees and have kept it there.
All this gave rise to the nationalist Russian movement we are seeing today. That movement initially came into existence around the outrage of paying tribute to Chechnya in the amount of billions of rubles.
I so wish there was more coverage of all this in Western media because people don’t know about any of this.

This is the reason I come to this blog Clarissa. Never even heard of such a thing. Everything in the Western media portrays Russia as having comprehensively won that war, but that just isn’t the case if they’re having to pay vast amounts of money to the Chechens to keep them happy.
Do you think there will be a time when Russia can’t keep paying them off?

Western media is full of idiots who are completely clueless about the rest of the world…. they mostly look to RT for ‘news’ about russia. Never trust western media about anything outside the US (they’re not always wrong but wrong enough often enough that they don’t deserve the benefit of a doubt).

There are many places where I have no idea what’s going on because nobody has the time to follow everything. But I automatically disbelieve everything because things are reported with extraordinary laziness. Journalists keep complaining but they aren’t working too hard. They think investigative journalism means googling stuff.
