An Antidote for Chaos

In the Russian town of Shebekino that’s under the assault from the nationalist guerrillas, the police forces disbanded and massive looting has begun. Gangs of marauders are terrorizing the civilian population.

The last time that the guerrillas crossed the border into Russia, they had to withdraw because the regular army started bombing their own civilian population. These are Russian nationalists, so they don’t want their own people to suffer. But these aren’t people who are capable of organizing themselves and maintaining order.

By the way, in the neighboring Ukrainian city of Kharkiv that’s been bombed regularly for over a year, there’s been no looting. Businesses are open and serving customers. Municipal services are functioning well.

A national consciousness is the best antidote from chaos, disorder, and marauding. People perceive their country, city and street as their own and don’t want to damage them.
