Greece doesn’t border russia, they’re both in the Orthodox tradition (though IIRC the Greek and russian branches sort of hate each other) and there used to be a lot of russian tourists in Greece. I don’t think it’s been a place where they park resources (like Cyprus) but if it benefits Cyprus Greeks like it since they tend to think of the two countries as one…

russia markets itself as the opposite of the US so lots of Mexicans will support them just for that…. many years ago I had a Mexican roommate and he and his friends were supportive of Cuba and russia because of opposition to the US…. it is, as they say, what it is…
