Would I seem crazy if I said that most news media from the US seems to be testing how insanely wrong they can be and not get called out? Cause that’s what it seems like….

The Dems are assisting in the MAGA takeover of the Congress. It’s an interesting strategy.

The Democrats are not supporting the MAGA Republicans. They are the minority in the house and there is no expectation for them to support the speaker unless there is some sort of deal to get their support. McCarthy has actually gone back on deals that he made with Democratic leadership about legislation, so why should of them support him now or be willing to make new deals with him?

Democrats voted together with the MAGAs to give the MAGAs what they want, right? Gaetz and Co would have been utterly unsuccessful without the Democrat support.

They voted with them because they oppose McCarthy, not because they support the MAGAs. McCarthy’s loss throws the Republicans into chaos and makes it clear to everyone how chaotic and divided they are. Republican factions fighting each other in public is most likely a win for the Democrats.

That’s all true, and I said that from the start. But it’s indisputable that the Dems achieved that by giving the MAGAs what they want. Why it’s worth undermining the Republican mainstream to empower the MAGAs is a different question.

McCarthy was supposedly in the Republican mainstream but caved to the MAGAs in his party (starting with the change that let Gaetz oust him so easily).

Still trying to imagine a universe where Gaetz is the leader of a “hard right” political faction.
Uh.
What is this fantasy world?
