I’m sure we’ve discussed victimhood as a status symbol before, but also, if you’re a “victim,” nothing you do is your own fault. Murdered someone, but you had a sad childhood? You should be out on bail. The antisocial behavior of drug addicts is excused in a similar way. And here we see it in the international sphere. Who wouldn’t want to be a victim?

I see “context” is the new fashionable codeword.
Yes, do let’s look at parading corpses of civilian tourists in front of cheering crowds in “context”. I’m sure it’ll all look terribly reasonable then.

Only 10 minutes ago, we were all #MeTooting like we’d all eaten nothing but beans for a month. And now suddenly rape victims being paraded around with glee requires more context. I thought we could all at least be against rape but it looks like this is too complicated for some people.

Why we were duped and the stages of the Hamas attack:
How Israel was duped as Hamas planned devastating assault

This morning the fighting within Israeli borders is still going on: “The IDF said early on Monday morning that some 80 terrorists were found inside Israel overnight as fighting continued in six locations along the Gaza border. at least 800 Hamas targets in Gaza, were struck by the military.”
My favorite news? “Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told Arab leaders the “Israeli aggression” must be stopped, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Monday.”
Wait a second and his words will appear on the first page of all Western media sources, especially when the number of Palestinian dead starts going up.

“sit silently out of sheer politeness”
You can’t say they didn’t warn you.
Though to be honest, what happened in Israel is pretty much exactly what I thought it was…

Good, short and to the point:

It’s definitely a mega fail, and I hope there will be accountability.

Which accountability? For Netanyahu? No way! The responsible are those protesters against Netanyahu’s judicial reform. Their protests persuaded our enemies we were weak and it was time to attack. Only N will save us! / wish I were kidding/
// On Monday, an Egyptian intelligence official reported that Abbas Kamel, Director of the General Intelligence Directorate of Egypt, called Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to alert him about “something fierce will happen from Gaza,” ten days ago. According to the Egyptian source, Netanyahu seemed unbothered, said the IDF is “swamped” in dealing with terror from the West Bank. (Smadar Perry)

More about media:
// An email from the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC), a publicly funded news outlet, instructed journalists to avoid using the word “terrorist” in their coverage of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
“Do not refer to militants, soldiers, or anyone else as ‘terrorists,’” George Achi, the Director of Journalistic Standards with CBC News, told employees in an email sent midday Saturday. “The notion of terrorism remains highly politicized and is part of the story. Even when quoting/clipping a government or a source referring to fighters as ‘terrorists,’ we should add context to ensure the audience understands this opinion, not fact,” Achi explained in a note first obtained by the American organization StopAntisemtism.
