The US doesn’t have a category of economic migrant in its immigration system. And that’s precisely why we have more economic migrants than anybody else in the world. As Dr Phil says, “you can’t solve what you don’t acknowledge.” Reality bites hard, and those who deny it usually get bitten.
One way to start solving the problem of exceptionally high immigration is to recognize the category of economic migrant officially and put a number on it. We let in millions of economic migrants every year and then engage in a sad spectacle of listening to their forced lies about being victims of political persecution. What do you think this teaches their children other than that posing as a fake victim in the US pays off?
Instead of this bizarre policy, we could simply publicize a number of economic migrants and a number of political refugees that will be accepted yearly. There are very few actual political refugees, so their number should be minuscule in comparison with that of economic migrants.
It costs no money to speak of to create a new, working definition of “asylum seeker” and “economic migrant.” Instead, the Biden administration has proposed to expand the definition of “asylum seeker” even more, inviting a growing number of people to lie to get into this country.
