It’s All About the Base

This is the problem with both Biden and Trump. Both speak to a very narrow base whose interests are simply incomprehensible to most voters. I understand trying to secure the base before appealing to the general public but the base, in both situations, is so far removed from everybody else that the chasm is impossible to bridge.

At this point, I find both candidates to be living in a different universe from my interests as a voter.

This is why it boggles me how there still are so many Trump worshipers. I mean, what do these people see in Trump? There is really nothing special about Trump to make him so appealing to anyone.

At least nobody worships Biden like that.

      1. I’d say that’s more about hating Trump than loving Biden. Nobody really loves Biden as far as I can see. Which is good! People shouldn’t love politicians.

        1. The overwhelming majority of MAGAs do not like Trump and see his faults very clearly. But he’s the only person who at least mentions the stuff that matters to people. Trump’s popularity hinges 100% on him being the only politician in America who doesn’t speak in PC cliches. There’s nobody else who does that. It’s not Trump people love. It’s an opportunity to hear the truth spoken freely.

          1. Agreed. I think a vast majority of the “silent majority” are really sick of PC bullshit and may be willing to vote for anyone that doesn’t push it. The neoliberal model is also collapsing before our very eyes and it is paralyzed to do anything to stop it. It doesn’t help that we have conflicting realities between objectively real problems made up problems and solutions that do not address the root causes of inequality.

The troubling issue to me is this is all very well known by just about anyone with half a brain. So why are the ruling neoliberal elites so paralyzed to do anything? We’ve seen them adapt and adjust fairly quickly before, but that is not happening anymore.
