On the one hand, we should all support DEI. But on the other, we should never acknowledge it exists.

It’s such a strange thing. If DEI is good – and aren’t we told all day and every day that it’s not only good but absolutely crucial – then why is mentioning its existence akin to uttering a terrible insult?
It’s not mentioning the existence of DEI that they are objecting to but the notion of being “subjected” to it, in the sense of being affected by an unwelcome or unpleasant condition.

No, they are upset that Harris is called a DEI hire. Remove the word “subjected”, and they’ll freak out just as bad.

Good question.

Example: we have been authorized to do a DEI hire at my college. It’s authorized and discussed specifically as a DEI hire.
After somebody gets hired for this position, is it OK to tell them they are a DEI hire to their face? Or will that be considered racist?
We all know the answer.
