Totally. A prostitute “of color” with a face tattoo, subservient Russian patsies, and a Teamster boss screeching about corporate greed.
This reminded me of an old joke. A young dude writes in his diary:
“Monday. Masturbated with the left hand. Extraordinary.
Tuesday. Masturbated with the right hand. A lot less impressive than the left hand.
Wednesday. Had sex with a woman. A pale semblance of the right hand.”

I remember a version of you that would’ve enjoyed the screeching about corporate greed 😛

“A Republican voter dropped into this moment from 2012 would conclude the Republican Party was brutally defeated, surrendered unconditionally, and was rebuilt into a pliant proxy for the Democrats.“
I may be a pain in the neck to you and all American readers, but could you provide some more in-depth context around the quote for your (very appreciative) non-US readers? Although I very well infer that all is not right in the Kingdom of Denmark, the quote as it is remains quite cryptic.

Imagine being two days removed from an assassination attempt on the campaign trail and the Republican party organizes a convention for you where the headlining speaker is a black stripper with her face tattooed whose only claim to fame is fucking rap stars, followed by a latina immigrant who said she voted for Biden in 2020, some weirdo sikh woman leading a prayer, and a teamster boss who refuses to call out immigration as a problem.

I was paraphrasing matt walsh, who said it much better than I did. 🙂

And then people come here and tell me this will attract voters. The voters this can attract already have a party. And they aren’t switching over some random hooker.

The first day of the convention was an absolute embarrassment. It would be the dumbest of partisan lies to deny this. It could have just as easily been a Dem convention based on the speakers. What’s next? A trans woman? A drag queen? A DEI hire? I’m afraid to look.

It feels like every comment I had made recently has started off this way, but nothing else fits.
I’d be very curious to know who is choosing the speakers. Its obviously not the base. So is it the RINOs, the Never Trumpers, is it the Boomers in office ….. I mean it just seems to be continuing the trend of the Republicans doing their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The speaker lineup was definitely created by people whose brains have been conquered by DEI ideas. What I saw is a cringey effort to be “diverse” at any cost.

“convention was an absolute embarrassment”
was briefly talking with an American colleague today (not a fan of Trump by any means)
“That’s it…. the election is over” he said.
“Maybe” I counted “but never count out the endless ability of the GOP to screw a sure thing up…”
“…you have a point.”

They lost me yesterday. JD Vance? Seriously? Why get the husband of a woke Indian lady when the other party is offering a woke Indian lady herself? If those are the options, let’s go with the original.
No offense to Indian ladies but for some mysterious reason the ones in America tend to be mega lefty.

I think Trump chose Vance because he likes him (his two older sons were also pushing for him). Vance came out and said that he would have done what Pence did not on January 6. His stated positions are very anti-woke.
His wife is not a factor, and, if anything, someone they can point to when the left screeches about racism.

Trump chose Vance because Vance is even weaker than him. A weak, malleable personality.
I once again recommend that you read the book. At least the parts about Usha. Vance explains in his own words how completely subservient he is to her. He thinks he’s some sort of a genius and he’s pathetically grateful that her family picked him up. He’s a weak, easy to manipulate non-entity.

A lot of Silicon Valley money is going into Trump’s campaign.
Elon Musk is going to give $45 million per month to a new pro-Trump super PAC – https://www.wsj.com/politics/elections/elon-musk-has-said-he-is-committing-around-45-million-a-month-to-a-new-pro-trump-super-pac-dda53823?mod=hp_lead_pos1
Elon was pushing for Vance as VP. Vance is backed by Peter Thiel who is, among other things, a co-founder of Palantir Technologies. One of the other co-founders of that company will also donate to that PAC.
You can’t discount that as a factor in choosing Vance. Money is usually the strongest motivator. Trump will make sure plenty of that money flows to him through the use of his properties, paying for Melania’s stylists, and that sort of thing.
